Overview
Working in partnership with Openreach and residents, Highway Workforce combined the reinstatement of trenches with the full width resurfacing of 750m2 of existing private footway in Parkside Place, East Horsley. The project was offered as a value engineering solution to traditional reinstatement of utility openings and combined the need for lifecycle maintenance of the footways.
Resources
Highway Workforce mobilised a 4-Operative Infrared recycling Crew equipped with a KM4-40 infrared heater and 12t Asphalt Hot Box to undertake the works.
Recycling activities were carefully aligned to Openreach’s trenching operations to minimise disruption to residents and ensure the site always remained compact and tidy.
Results
Typical outputs of 120m2 per shift were delivered without the need to remove any waste from site. The attached carbon calculator demonstrates a carbon saving more than 19t (CO2e)
The coordinated approach to reinstatement and footway resurfacing saved significant cost, produced a high-quality reinstatement, and restored the footways to full-service life.
